چکیده

Abstract Introduction Olfactory function is known to be impaired in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) as well subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and mild impairment (MCI), which are generally considered at-risk states for developing AD. The aim of the study at hand was identify predictors self-reported olfaction capability (SOC), perceiving specific odors (SRP), olfaction-related quality life (ORQ), odor identification (OIT) SCD, naMCI, aMCI. Methods sample consisted 33 88 43 aMCI who consulted Department Neurology, Medical University Vienna, due memory complaints between January 2001 May 2018. assessed objectively by means Sniffin’ Sticks test subjectively ASOF-scores SOC, SRP, ORQ two three points time, an average time interval 39 months first second examination, 24 third examination. Linear mixed models were used order clinical demographic variables mean ORQ, OIT throughout observation period. Results There a statistically significant — albeit small time-related SOC SCD group but not other groups. Throughout period, estimated significantly higher than naMCI after adjusting measurement covariates. Positive relationships all ASOF-scores, negative BDI-II positive relationship WST-IQ SRP identified. Conclusion significant, small, uncertain relevance measures olfactory SCD. Implications In subgroups, measured odor-identification scores have impact on over time. confirms previous observations regarding influence depression perception capabilities from cross-sectional studies.

Abnormal organization of white matter networks in patients with subjective cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment

Network analysis has been widely used in studying Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, how the white matter network changes in cognitive impaired patients with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) (a symptom emerging during early stage of AD) and amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) (a pre-dementia stage of AD) is still unclear. Here, structural networks were constructed respectively based on ...

Olfactory identification in subjective cognitive decline and mild cognitive impairment: Association with tau but not amyloid positron emission tomography

Introduction We investigated the association between olfactory identification and Alzheimer's disease biomarkers, including amyloid, tau, and neurodegeneration. Methods Thirty-four older adults, including 19 cognitively normal (CN), 10 subjective cognitive decline (SCD), and 5 mild cognitive impairment, underwent amyloid positron emission tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and the Univer...

Effect of Aerobic Exercise on HbA1c and Cognitive Function in Prediabetes Patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of moderate to high-intensity aerobic exercise on HbA1c (Glycated hemoglobin), FBS (fasting blood sugar) and cognitive function in mild cognitive impairment prediabetes patients. Materials and Methods: Seventeen elderly mild cognitive impairment (age 55-70) men and women were selected and were randomly divided into 2 groups as aerobic (n=1...

cognitive rehabilitation in patients with nonamnestic mild cognitive impairment

background: the nonamnesic type of mild cognitive impairment (na?mci) is predementia state with subtle decline incognitive domains except memory. although cognitive rehabilitation (cr) has been investigated in amnesic type of mci, we could not find any trial that rehabilitated na?mci exclusively. we studied the effectiveness of cr on na?mci. materials and methods: this study was a blinded, rand...

Functional Connectivity Disruption in Subjective Cognitive Decline and Mild Cognitive Impairment: A Common Pattern of Alterations

Functional connectivity (FC) alterations represent a key feature in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and provide a useful tool to characterize and predict the course of the disease. Those alterations have been also described in Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a prodromal stage of AD. There is a growing interest in detecting AD pathology in the brain in the very early stages of the disorder. Subjective...
